Richard “Ricky” Cardenas is nothing more than your typical anime watching, video game playing, movie going, comic book collecting father of three. A “second generation nerd” as he calls himself, he takes all his likes from his father who encouraged his hobbies from a very young age.

Because of his dad first taking him to local sci-fi conventions in the mid 80’s Ricky started off buying anime on VHS. From there, Ricky’s amassed a collection of titles that range from Sailor Moon and Cutey Honey to Shigurui and Kimba. His taste in anime knows no bounds and he is always willing to watch anything new that comes along.

Starting off in the world of video gaming with the Atari 2600, Ricky has gone on to own almost every single system since then. He considers himself to be a huge fan of shooters, fighting games, and RPGs but will gladly play any game you put in front of him. Although he mainly plays his PS3 now, he will still power up his Wii or join you on the 360.

Most weekends, you can find Ricky at the movie theater trying to catch whatever new movie has caught his attention. Well, that is if he didn’t make his wife suffer and drag her along to a midnight showing. He has an eclectic taste in movies, and considers Singing in the Rain to be his all time favorite film. Always loving the company of good friends, his plan is to go with as many friends to the movies as he can. Just make sure to be quiet when the show starts.

Ricky first started collecting comic books way back in 1984 and considers himself to be a huge Marvel Comics fan. But that doesn’t mean that he doesn’t like DC, Image, or any other publisher out there. His personal collection of books is in the thousands and he is adding more to that collection every week, even though his wife threatens to burn them all every time he comes home with a new batch.
