Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood E3 Preview

If you want to kill something, you strike for the heart. If you want to destroy a megalomaniacal group of religious zealots, you head to Rome. It’s 1503, Ezio, the up and coming talent in the assassination world is now a legendary master of the trade, and he is hunting the streets of the Papal city in order to crush the Templars once and for all.

Shooting for a November 16, 2010 release, Ubisoft’s latest title in the Assassin’s Creed franchise is offering up something new: multiplayer. First, however, let’s look at the single player campaign. The Templars are a large and powerful order as such it’s going to take more than just one man to finally bring them down. Enter the Brotherhood. Ezio will be uniting with fellow assassins in order to accomplish their lofty task. You can give them commands, and even send them out on missions. If they return they will gain experience, if not… well, there are plenty of others to choose from.

Build your Brotherhood

Ubisoft has said that the city of Rome will be 3 times that of Florence, from Assassin’s Creed 2, providing a much more immersive experience. As well as expanded combat mechanics and new enemies, horses will play a larger role; including the ability to ride a horse within city walls and you can even complete assassinations while on horseback.

The real buzz about this game though was the advent of multiplayer. Assassin’s Creed: Brotherhood is going to have several multiplayer modes, pitting players against each other. However, the difference here is that, as an assassin, stealth and secrecy will come into play. One of the multiplayer modes entails assigning each player a target (the target being another player). As you travel around in search of your mark, you too are someone else’s target, and must take steps to remain hidden and not attract the attention of your pursuer. You can climb buildings, jump from rooftops, and utilize disguises in order to reach your prey, but the really cool thing about it is that in your attempts at stealth, there’s an actual person on the other end that you’re trying to fool, not some AI that can easily be figured out.

If you’re a fan of the series, or new to the game, you might want to check this title out on Xbox 360, PS3 and PC in November. I know I will.
