Recently, at the Comikaze Expo in Los Angeles, I attended SyFy’s Fact or Faked panel hosted by Bill Murphy. It was a pretty good experience; I love the supernatural, and this show is all about proving if it’s either faked or fact… something unexplained and was caught on tape. I love Ghost Hunters on SyFy and hadn’t had a chance to catch this series just yet. But when I saw they were having a panel at Comikaze I thought “ok well here’s my chance.”
Bill Murphy explained in detail on how they choose their cases. He explained that they have a certain criteria they have to meet for them to be considered. 1, it has to have compelling evidence. 2, there has to be an available witness to the event. 3, they have to be able to perform experiments to prove or disprove what is being disputed. Now once they have the case, they try to prove it being true or faked; and how they do this is through the scientific method of trial and error. Obvious, right? Well not to me! When he explained about the steps of going through the scientific method I found myself thinking “of course that makes sense!”
Now Bill explained how in the first season they used a lot of handheld equipment to create evidence; but now that they are moving into the new season they should go up into a larger scale to help create better evidence. During this time he went on to show videos and evidence from a lot of different equipment they use, and equipment people have made. One of the creepiest ones he showed was something called the ghost writer - it was pretty amazing. The group in attendance asked a question and it was answered in writing on a Polaroid! Hm. If this is what the show is going to be like, then I am definitely going to watch it.
