Warning: This article contains spoilers to the ending of Marvel Comic’s Shadowland 1.
If you have read Shadowland 1 then this is nothing new to you. If you haven’t heard anything about what happened, haven’t read Shadowland 1, and are interested in the Daredevil continuity, then quit fooling yourself. You already know that Daredevil dramatically kills Bullseye by thrusting a sai through his chest. Oh, you didn’t know that? Did I ruin Shadowland 1 for you? Well, boo-fucking-hoo. I already warned you. Plus that book sucked. I don’t want to talk about the Shadowland crossover anyway. I want to talk about how Marvel seems to like killing people in the same way with the same weapon. Is it an homage to kill Daredevil characters by dramatically thrusting a sai into their chest, or is it just lazy?
Here, in the award winning (Razzie, worst actor) film Daredevil, we see one Bullseye (Colin Farrell) stabbing Elektra Natchios (Jennifer Garner) through the chest with her own weapon, a sai.
The film was referring to the panel in Daredevil 181 (April 1982) when Bullseye killed Elektra with her own sai to be deemed worthy of being the Kingpin’s top assassin. Because of that image, Marvel apparently thought that if someone were to kill with a sai, it would have to look the same every time.
Now look at this image. This was from New Avengers 31 (June 2007) when Echo killed Skrull Elektra. I know, Echo didn’t use a sai, but Echo was only stabbing Skrullektra because Skrullektra had just stabbed her.... sai style.
See? When Echo was disguised as Ronin, she got her ass dramatically stabbed by a sai! WTF! I know I know! Now, remember that first paragraph where I said Daredevil stabbed Bullseye through the chest with a sai?
BAM! See? See? I’m done! If I see anyone getting stabbed in the chest with a sai again, I’m going to lose it!

I gotta admit that I agree
I gotta admit that I agree with you there. I am all in favor of honoring the classics. But that is one copied scene too many. It was fine the first time in the comic and in the movie. After that, sorry, you need something else there Marvel.
