The Madman 20th Anniversary Monster HC book is a collection of 26 stories from the twenty year history of this comic book character. The stories rage from pseudo-superhero like to just plain quirky. You never really know what to expect as you flip the page.

Some of the comics featured remind me of Mad Magazine-esque styles to Little Annie Fanny, the comic strip from Playboy magazines (sans the sex of course). There’s clearly a lot of inspiration that has been adapted to the Madman comics to give it a really unique look and feel.

The book starts off with an introduction by Michael Allred. Then it goes into a “Tales from the Crypt” type parody, with character like the infamous Crypt Keeper known as “The Exquisite Corpse”. He gives a little introduction and then goes into the twenty six stories in the book, then gives and outro as well, just like in the tv series.

The art styles featured in this collection also runs the gamut. After reading all twenty six stories and noticing the different art styles there, there’s a huge Pin-Up section that shows off all the different artists that have drawn Madman over the years, including Todd McFarlane with his signature Spawn-esque style. 

If you are a fan of the Madman comic books, this is definitely a must get for your collection. If you’ve never read Madman before, this would give you a unique look into the character and history of this comic book. Watch for this exquisite collection when it hits store shelves on December 28th.
