If any of you know the art of Guillem March, then you know that his particular brand of art is quite… expressive. Well, expressive isn’t quite the word I am looking for. Yeah, he has some great stories being told through his work, but what I am getting at is the way he draws his characters - particularly the female characters. I mean, there is a reason why he has worked on such series as Gotham City Sirens, Power Girl, Catwoman, Huntress and Oracle. His rendition of the female form is impressive to say the least; seductive and sensual to take it to the other extreme. But to say that his work on other comics, especially Detective Comics, is any less important would be nothing short of a crime. Nevertheless, the reason I bring up March’s portrayal of female characters hold some relevance to the book that will be coming out later this month on January 25th

Cover Girls

The Cover Girls hardcover edition is a collection of some of his most impressive works of art as they pertain to the female form. From some pieces that cover his renditions of Catwoman and Poison Ivy to some incredible pieces of some more independent and foreign works he has done throughout his career. The book is filled with just under 80 pages of some of the best artwork you will see collected on a coffee table hardcover book. Yes, I plan on displaying my copy of the book on my coffee table in the living room. Though some pieces of art do cross the normal PG13 feel of most comic book artworks, the ones that do cross into the adult realm are equally as stunningly done.

Cover Girls

If you are a fan of sketch and art books like I am, than this book is definitely for you. Guillem March has one of the most recognizable styles in comics right now, and his collection in this book illustrates that point. You will not be disappointed by page after page of beautiful works of art accompanied by the original sketch renditions of each giving the reader a glimpse into how this artist does such fine works. Page after page is an attention grabber and a sure conversation piece for anyone who looks at it. I have my copy already preordered, I suggest you go and do the same. The Cover Girls HC will be available January 25th from Image Comics.
