Logan's Faith, or Lack Thereof, Is Put to the Test

Wolverine is one of the most used characters in the Marvel Universe. Not only will you see him in many of the X-Men and Avengers titles, but you can also find him in one of his many solo books. His appearances have been pared down in the last couple of years, and he's even given his lead spot away in some titles. While most people were going through Wolverine fatigue, Jason Aaron reminded us Wolverine is a great character to follow. So Wolverine Weapon X was made.

Recently, one of Wolverine's closest friends, Nightcrawler, died. This issue stops to take a break from the action to mourn the death of the elf. In his will, Nightcrawler had asked Logan to deliver a piano to a remote village in the mountains of Venezuela. During his journey, Logan takes the time to reminisce about his rocky friendship with the teleporter as he tries to intstill faith in him.

Wolverine Weapon X

These one-off issues of Weapon X is when Jason Aaron really gets into the heart of Logan. He always chooses the best spot to slow down and remind us Logan is a person who needs to deal with things. In an earlier issue of Weapon X, Logan took the time to have a few beers with a recently resurrected buddy (Steve Rogers). That was a great issue. Here, with everything going wrong in the jungle, all Logan can think about is Nightcrawler and his faith in God. This issue is great.

As great as the story is, the art just isn't. Each and every artist has their own style, but when your art looks like a bad flash game, there's no way I can get into it. I'm not apologizing for it. This is just bad. If it weren't for the panel layout, this would've been a disaster. I keep thinking the lines are going to start wiggling. Ugh.

Jason Aaron can do great action scenes as well. It's just a treat when a writer remembers to slow things down to make the characters more relatable.

Man, I haven't read the issue

Man, I haven't read the issue but from just the examples of the art you have here I have got to agree with your score there. Wow.
