A New Start Doesn't Stop the Craziness for Sara

While Sara tries to adjust to her new life in Chicago, things aren’t going to well for the bearer of the Witchblade power. At the end of last issue, Sara found herself in jail for attacking an old woman. What the police who arrested her didn’t see was that moments before that same old woman looked years younger and was wearing a Lady Gaga-like meat version of the Witchblade. … … …Yeah, that is exactly what I thought as well. But, at least for the reader, some questions are being answered regarding that incident. Answers that when Sara discovers will shock her beyond belief - maybe more so than her new male companion who also happens to be some kind of popular magician who seems to be drawn to the occult. Yeah, things sure are different for the Witchblade; but then again, if things remained the same, what would be the fun in that.

Witchblade 152

While the story may be confusing me a bit right now, it sure is interesting. Old women with meaty Witchblade-like powers, Sara in jail, a magic man who knows more than he is letting on and a powerful witch attacking who she can. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention her. Anyway, what Tim Seeley is doing in Witchblade is mixing things up, and so far it is for the best. Taking Sara out of her comfort zone and introducing whole new elements and characters is something I never would have thought of but I am glad that I am seeing in this new direction for the series. By the same token, Diego Bernard’s artwork for Witchblade is pretty damn good. It took me between last issue and this one to adjust to the new look for the series, but look at Bernard’s work – it really is quite impressive.

Whatever you do, don’t miss Witchblade 152 and the continuance of this new direction for the series. It may be different from what you expected from the Witchblade before, but you will be quite content with where it is going now.
