by TheAvenger on 09.19.11 For those familiar with the Teen Wolf television show, this article is for you as this book is based off of the hit series that MTV airs. Having never seen the series and only hearing about it, I have to say that the comic wasn’t that bad. It’s about at teenager named Scott McCall who is your typical middle class kid that is co-captain of the lacrosse team and has the cute girlfriend. Here lies the problem though; he was bitten by a werewolf and because of that he has trained hunters after him that want him dead. Some characteristics of the story are very similar to Spider-Man. The reason why I say this is because his girlfriend, Allison Argent, is so into Scott that he has to hide the truth of being a werewolf all the while he is trying to get rid of what he thinks of as a curse by looking for the alpha werewolf that bit him.
Scott has only a few friends that know the truth - Stiles and Derek, who is a werewolf himself. At the end of the comic, Derek and Scott go to find this alpha werewolf and, while on their search, run into the hunters which have been trained and have been hunting werewolves for over 300 years. But here’s the catch: the hunters are the Argent’s - and Scott’s beloved girlfriend, Allison, bears the Argent last name. Of course, Scott and Derek get away, but when Scott gets home he discovers he cannot change back to human form after his incident with the hunters. So here’s the scoop - Teen Wolf 1 was good especially with that twist at the end when I found out that Scott’s girlfriend is related to the hunters tracking him down. I definitely want to read the next issue, and I believe that overall Teen Wolf 1 was alright.
