by nightminx on 10.23.11 ![]() I have been eagerly awaiting the start of Once Upon A Time and am so excited that it is finally here. I was fortunate enough to see the pilot episode at the D23 Expo in August before it airs tonight on ABC. I am happy to say that just from this first episode I am expecting a lot more from this series - since I am such a fairytale loving girl. From what I got from the pilot episode and the Q&A with the creators of the series (Edward Kitsis and Adam Horowitz of Lost fame), this series is going to be my new addiction, I just know it.
This first episode, as is expected, begins by laying down all the background information and introducing the audience to the heroine of the show, private detective Emma Swan (Jennifer Morrison), and all the other residents of the sleepy little town of Storybrooke, Maine. For being the pilot episode, it does a real good job of keeping the story going while getting through all the introductions. I personally didn‘t think it dragged on like other introductory episodes for other shows as they tend to so. I also felt they did an excellent job in transitioning from the real world to flashbacks of the characters previous lives in the Fairytale kingdom they all originate from. It feels as it fits well in the story and doesn’t seem misplaced or mistimed at all when they do transition. Personally, I have to say that Snow White, played by Ginnifer Goodwin, and Prince Charming, played by Josh Dallas, are a very good looking couple and really match each other well, while The Evil Queen, played by Lana Parrilla, is one hot villain.
Once Upon a Time has a lot of characters they will be introducing over time, including Red Riding Hood, Cinderella and my all time favorite villain, Maleficent. This series has a lot of potential if they can keep this story going and the viewers interested. They should have no problem continuing on and showing us how this story should end. If they take their cues from their previous series and can maintain that aura of mystery, I am sure the creators of Once Upon a Time will have another hit series on their resumes.
