Big FOLD Takes Modern Warfare to the Next Strategic Level

I recently stumbled upon a gaming peripheral which has jumped to the top of my inquiry list. I am not a big fan of the massive guide books you can buy with games and though I try never to cheat, I have occasionally pulled my laptop over while playing to get some clues with regards to where to go and where the hell I am in a game. The new product I am interested in having by my side is a hands-free, laminated map set which is great for multiplayer and team based strategy games.

The Big FOLD maps from Inktree will add a level of convenience and ease which can certainly help your game. Back when I played Gears of War with a team, teams would have to come up with playbooks with the maps in order to better plan their strategies. With the Inktree map packs, you can write directly on their dry erase surface in the same fashion a football team would a board before and after a game. Inktree has done the legwork, leaving the team more time to practice.

Currently there is a tactical map pack available for Modern Warfare 2 and can be found as a part of the Modern Warfare 2 Limited Edition Strategy Guide. Will there be more? I had a chance to ask Eric Braun, CEO and Founder of Inktree, to look into his crystal ball and tell me what the future holds.

When can we expect to see the product implemented in other strategy based games? Are there plans for other game genres?

[ERIC] Other strategy based games would be the logical fit and are first in line based on what we’ve done for Modern Warfare 2, but in actuality, the Big FOLD is a valuable strategic supplement to any game. All games have tips, tricks, and information that requires a quick pause to view, whether it means going to onscreen help or taking a couple of flips through the instructions or a book. Placing that content on the Big FOLD allows gamers to highlight what’s important to them and set up the giant display right next to them while they play, thus avoiding the breaks in gaming.

Judging by our first release with Modern Warfare 2, we think you and your readers will be very excited about what we have coming in the future.

[ERIC] The Modern Warfare 2 Tactical Multiplayer Map is used to strategize before jumping into the game. It was designed for clans, professional players, and casual or individual players alike. Gamers can use it over and over again with a dry-erase marker as they refine their strategies. It’s especially helpful for players who want to get a feel for the maps, the routes, the chokepoints etc., before they even step foot in the game.

What does the crystal ball show is in Inktree’s future?

[ERIC] We’re looking to make a huge impact on the way video games are played, and more specifically we’re interested in simplifying things for gamers. The less time you spend in the pause menu searching through a FAQ online and the like, the better. We’re making things easier – helping gamers to master games faster – and delivering the tools to achieve mastery in a very affordable product. All we can say for now, is more to come.
